Urbana designates outdoor seating for ‘Restore Illinois’ phase 4

As the state of Illinois continues to recover from the effects of COVID-19, the state will be moving ahead into Phase 4 of Governor Pritzker’s “Restore Illinois” plan. This will allow for more businesses and services to open and moves the limit for gatherings up to 50 people.

The City of Urbana has announced new guidelines and has set aside a portion of Parking Lot 1, at Water and Race Streets for seating to be utilized by local businesses. This will have an impact on the traffic flow in the area. Goose Alley will now be one way only with traffic being directed from the lot east toward Broadway.

Half of Lot 1 and the entirety of Lot 2 will be unavailable for parking for the near future. Parking is still available on the street and at the municipal garage between Race Street and Broadway.

The city and state health department continue to urge people to wear face coverings, practice social distancing and use best hygiene practices as the reopening continues.
