UI7 is home to three student run television broadcasts.
Our flagship show is UI7 Live, formerly UI7 News, debuted 1981 and has been running continually since. In 1994 UI7 moved to a small building which was later demolished and dedicated as the Richmond Journalism Teaching Studio in 1999. UI7 is a live broadcast airing twice a week. It is a serious news program for all local news coverage in Champaign County. UI7 Live strives for local coverage on and around the campus of the University of Illinois. Winner of 2 Crystal Pillar awards for Best Student Newscast and 1 Honorable Mention from NATAS Mid-America Foundation.
Good Morning Illini is a lifestyle, soft news program. Debuted February 10, 2017. GMI is a live weekly newsmagazine show, highlighting the events and community on the Illinois campus. Telling the stories of Illini and reaching out to our community and keep them posted about our campus stories. Winner of 1 Crystal Pillar Award for Best Sports Story in 2018.
Illini Sports Night is a weekly sports newsmagazine that broadcasts on UI7. Debuted February 14, 2020, the program is presented by journalism students in the College of Media at the University of Illinois. Honored by NATAS Mid-America Foundation with Honorable Mention for Best Sports Program and Best Sports Reporting.
