Urbana, Ill. – The University of Illinois recently updated a license agreement for Microsoft Office 365 that is affecting which inbox emails sent to dot Illinois addresses arrive in. Prior to 2019, all new students were given a Google email, however this changed last year as all new students are being given Outlook mail accounts.
Following the recent license change, some students with Google accounts are experiencing messages being sent to new Outlook accounts that did not exist before last week. The University is advising all students to check their email inboxes through links provided and then to follow instructions to change the settings.
The technology services department provided instruction on how to do this in a tweet sent on Tuesday.
If you are a current student using Google Apps @ Illinois Gmail (or forwarding emails to a personal address), you may NOT be receiving all of your emails.— Technology Services (@TechServicesIL) April 21, 2020
