The University’s High School Arabic Program is Set to Return this Summer

For the fifth year in a row, the Arabic High School the Summer Institute for the Languages of the Muslim World will be returning this summer. High school students who are interested in learning Arabic and the aspects of Arab culture are invited to a two-week intensive Elementary Arabic course where students will learn all genres of the Arabic language along with activities pertaining to Arab culture.

The course is an introductoray course in Modern Standard Arabic for highschool students with limited or close to no prior knowledge of the arabic language. The course will teach students foundational reading, writing and spesaking skills in the Arabic language through four hour sessions along with a classroom structured enviornmetn with co-curricular acitivities like cooking classes, calligraphy, henna tattos, field trips and more.

Along with having core lessons about language and syntax, students will also have an oppurtunity to get to know college students and acclimate to the local arab community while also lodginh in a campus residence hall. Students will earn two colledge credits along with understanding a new culture, languahe and the differences that a college enviornmet has to offer.

The Arabic program will take place from June 12th to June 25th, 2022 with in-person instruction unless COVID-19 regulations change.
