Noah Cowell is a sophomore majoring in Media and Cinema Studies and minoring in Journalism at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He is currently employed as a camera operator at Illinois women’s basketball games for Fighting Illini Productions that produces BTN+ broadcasts. He joined the BTN student U broadcasting team as a volunteer and will soon be involved in their play-by-play broadcasting. Noah is also a member of the Marketing department for the Illinois Sports Business Conference (ISBC), where he takes headshots for fellow members of the organization and takes pictures during the conference in February. Off-campus, he interns at Stevie Jay Broadcasting radio station, voicing and editing their radio commercials and creating other content. This semester, Noah is focused on being as active as possible by creating more stories for Illini Sports Night and Good Morning Illini and expanding his areas of scripting, editing, interviewing, and much more.
From an early age, his passion for sports led him to opportunities in his high school football broadcasting team, and his interest in sports/TV production led him to the University of Illinois, his parents’ alma mater. His career goals are to be involved with a national sports affiliate and broadcast nationally televised football and/or basketball games. Because of this, he is constantly looking for more opportunities to make connections in his field and get new experience that will benefit him in the long run.
During his free time, Noah enjoys playing and watching sports, spending time with family and friends, and watching movies. He is a member of the Orange Krush at Illini home basketball games, and he also goes to every home football game. He enjoys following the St. Louis Cardinals, Chicago Bears, and Chicago Bulls, and finds any opportunity to watch them in person.
