The Mckinley Health Center provides weekly health and wellness topics for the UIUC community through their new source, Healthy Illini Podcast.
The podcasts are 15-20 minute talks that gauge how to help students keep themselves “well” inside and outside of the classroom.
The podcast will feature healthcare experts, campus professionals, and fellow students coming together to engage in conversation about health topics that they hope leads towards self-discovery and exploration toward enhancing your wellbeing and overall quality of life.
Maha Hussain, a senior in Statistics, states her interest in the podcast and how it has bettered her mental health.
“With school going online and COVID and everything, I was really going through a lot and I didn’t have many outlets for happiness and the podcast really helped in making me feel like I wasn’t alone,” said Hussain.
Hussain is one of the many students who utilize the wellness center apps in times of need and really liked it.
Matt Schrock, administrative aide and host of the “Healthy Illini” talks about why he first got into the podcast.
“When I first heard about the opportunity I was so excited to be a part of something that makes a difference,” said Schrock.
The podcast will be taking place on November 30th, 2021, all day, virtually.
The McKinley wellness center will also offer resources to continue the conversation with students on campus.
