Illinois Campus Recreation Revises Opening Plans

Illinois Campus Recreation has revised plans to reopen the Activities and Recreation Center for use.

Originally, the ARC was scheduled to reopen Aug. 3, however, this has been pushed back to allow “adequate preparation and timing,” according to an email sent to Illinois Campus Recreation employees. The new date is now Aug 10.

With the shift in the reopening date comes a shift in how the ARC will make facilities available.

ARC will enter Stage 1 on Aug. 10 instead of Aug 3. Cardio and strength equipment will become available, including the indoor track. The ARC will be open 7:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday and closed on the weekends.

On Aug. 17, the ARC will enter Stage 2, which will allow event and rental requests to be conducted, depending on the event itself. The kitchen and bike center will also reopen. Hours will slightly change as well, from 7:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. on the weekdays, and 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. on the weekend.

The ARC will enter Stage 3 Aug. 24. A lot more areas and services will become available, including the climbing wall, indoor pool and club sports. Other places like the Ice Arena will open as well.

It should be noted that the times are subject to change for Stages 2 and 3, depending on state-wide and campus-wide guidelines.
