Illini Mens Golf Team Takes BIG Ten Championship

This past weekend the Fighting Illini Men’s Golf Team took home the BIG Ten golf Championship. This is the sixth season in a row that the Illini have taken home the BIG Ten Championship and they are looking to take the national title next weekend in South Carolina.

This last win makes it the 11th out of the last 12 for the Fighting Illini. As successful as the Illini have been in conference play over the last 12 years, they  have yet to win a national title.

The team overcame a strong push by Iowa, but was able to hold them off. The team is also looking forward to finally having their new home course, formerly known as Stone Creek opening up next season. It will now be called Atkins.

The renovations include the addition of 800 yards and each green and bunker will be redone as well.

The Illinois team was led by a couple of seniors, Michael Feagles and Giovanni Tadioto carried them this season, but the Illini will still have a very strong group after they graduate.
