Holiday Season Begins in Champaign

As the holiday season approaches, many businesses and organizations in Champaign County are beginning to sell holiday items and host holiday events.

The City of Champaign is encouraging community members to shop local this season.

Last weekend, the Sixth Annual Holiday Tree and Craft Sale kicked off the sales this season. The event was sponsored by the Champaign County Home and Community Education organization. Items such as trees, wreaths and handcrafted items were available to purchase.

Prairie Gardens will be hosting Totally Christmas Open House 2021 this weekend. Guests are welcome to attend and celebrate Christmas cheer while shopping for new holiday decorations. Those who visit can enter to win a fully decorated tree for free.

The Mistletoe Market will be open to visitors this Saturday in Sullivan. Over 45 vendors will be selling holiday items as well as selling specialty drinks from 5 West Coffee & Wine Lounge. A free Christmas photo booth will also be available for use. This event is child friendly and will provide many activities for children and childcare.

At the end of November, Shop Local Holiday Market will be hosted in Downtown Champaign. Champaign County designated the day as Small Business Saturday.

“Shop dozens of local vendors and artisans, screen print holiday gift tags with Weiskamp Screen Printing and bring your kids for make & take holiday crafts from 10am to 2pm. Enjoy a cozy hometown vibe and live music on the stage in the afternoon. Stick around downtown for Parade of Lights 2019 kicking off at 6pm.”

Champaign has made supporting local businesses easy for community members this holiday season.
