Carley Edwards is a junior studying Journalism with a minor in Psychology. She is from Park Ridge, Illinois, a suburb outside of Chicago. Carley comes from a big family so she is used to working in a team environment. This collaborative mindset translates to all aspects of her life – especially in the world of television and film. She always had a great appreciation for storytelling and strives to be part of the process.
After many summers on the golf course, Carley earned the Chick Evans Scholarship, a full tuition and housing caddy scholarship sponsored by the Western Golf Association, to attend the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. During her time on campus, her passion for volunteering has been reflected in two service leadership positions. Carley was philanthropy chair for her house, in charge of service events for scholars; She organized semi-annual blood drives, created fundraisers, and facilitated a weekly food pantry trip. Carley also spearheaded a fundraising team for Camp Kesem at Illinois, a summer camp designed to help kids affected by a parent’s cancer.
Carley is passionate about staying active and living a healthy, balanced life. She loves working out and finding new ways to stay moving. Her sophomore year, she was an undergraduate research assistant at the Exercise Psychology Lab. It was the perfect intersection of her love for exercise and positive mental health habits.
When she is not doing school work, Carley works as a lab monitor for Richmond Lab where she helps in the control room during UIUC live shows and ensures proper camera checkout procedures. This past summer, she also had the wonderful opportunity to work as assistant to executive producer, writer, director Bonnie Hunt during her new television series for Apple TV+. She managed the executive’s calendar, organized meetings, and prioritized sensitive and important matters. Carley soaked up the experience of being on a live set and learned so much from the process.
During her free time, she loves to travel and explore new places. Carley is always ready for an adventure and to be thrown into new and unfamiliar situations.
