2020 Champaign County Fair cancelled

By Jose Zepeda

The Champaign County Fair Association announced Wednesday in a press release that this year’s summer county fair has been canceled, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The decision comes as the CCFA Board of Directors voted to cancel the July 23 to August 1 event, citing discussions from local health officials.

The decision also affects other events that were expected to use the fair grounds as a venue. The Beach Boys were scheduled to perform July 23, while Billy Currington was scheduled to perform July 24. The weblinks to purchase tickets to the concerts no longer work and the CCFA said they will be implementing a plan soon to refund money to ticket purchasers.

“We are heartbroken as we had a great week planned for you and look forward to being back, bigger and better in 2021,” the press release said. “We will be ready to make up for our lost time with all those who love the county fair as much as we do!”

The Champaign County Fair is expected to return July 23 to July 31, 2021.
